UPDATE!!!

so it's been about 6 months since I last posted. & a lotttt of stuff has happened in those six months.

I finished out the year at UNLV and came home for the summer. I was in a production of Hairspray as well as an Elvis tribute show & had a blast doing both of them, I realized that was where my heart was when it came to performing, and that at UNLV I wasn't being noticed, I wasn't being appreciated and most importantly I wasn't being myself.

so I made the decision not to return to UNLV in August, I didn't see the point in wasting 4 years of my life and thousands of dollars on something my heart was not in.

it was a very tough decision because I knew how much I would miss Las Vegas, I also felt like I was blowing the chance of a lifetime considering how much of a longshot it was for me to get there in the first place. but I also knew God had a plan for me and I felt like he was telling me to step away from it for a while to figure out what I wanted and NEEDED to do. I knew I would never give up dancing, but getting a job in a Las Vegas show is easier said then done.

I decided I needed a back-up plan, so I thought about what I would do if I had to do something else. the only other field I've ever been interested in is hair & make-up. I also KNEW I wanted to go back to Vegas, it's my city.

so now I'm in the process of applying to cosmetology schools in LV, hoping to be back there after the new year. there's a lot I'll have to figure out & get together before that happens. but I'm very excited about the possibility. so begins my journey back to Bright Light City!

Vegas Family Adventures: Romie's Dirty Thirty!

Last night was Romies birthday! She turned the dirty 30, and I got to go! It was at RUMOR Hotel, in the lounge. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun! I went early and helped Troy set up a little bit, then we hung out for a little bit as guests were arriving, then FINALLY the birthday girl got there. She looked so cute, she matched her cake! haha. Then we ordered some drinks, well Romie did! ;) and the party got started. We were all having so much fun, then we decided to go to The Welcome To Fabulous Las Vegas sign and take pictures, because in her whole 12 years of living here, Romie had never been! I went there the first night I met Troy, in June of last year, it was kinda cool how things had come full circle. Then Troy had to get me home, I had left my purse at the hotel, so we had to go back, then we dropped Romie off there (she was going to wait for Troy, ew. my brother doing the naughty!) haha. And then Troy drove me home. We had been eating? something called CREAM which is Vodka infused whipped cream on top of jello shots, and then me a Troy finished it on the way back to UNLV, just squirting it in our mouths, haha good times.

Countdown To Viva!

One week from tonight I'll be seeing Viva Elvis for the very first time! I am ecstatic! I literally can't say in words how excited I am! Elvis has such a special place in my heart, and Las Vegas has come to hold another very special place. This show is combining the two in a spectacular way. I've been fortunate enough to take class for 3 weeks with one of the dancers from the show, he's amazing, and so inspiring! Even listening to the music on my Ipod makes me so so so excited! I'm sure it will be a magical night. One of the best nights of my life!

The Strip is right there...

So, I'm frustrated. I keep going along trying to be myself, but I have realized in the UNLV dance department you can't be yourslef, there's some sort of mold you have to fit into, and I don't. I'm not into the whole modern thing.  I don't get it, I don't like it, I don't want to do it. Plain and simple I hate it. I'm a dancer because I want to entertain. THAT'S what makes me happy, and makes me feel fulfilled. THAT's why I came to Las Vegas, THE ENTERTAINMENT CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. They try to pretend that we're not right across the street from the flashing neon lights people travel from  all over the world to see. The concerts they put on to me seem to be the Anti-Vegas. They're trying to do the complete opposite of the FABULOUS productions being produced across the street. I have fallen so in love with this city, with every little taste I've gotten of the Vegas Vegas is known for. The Vegas I want. I'm sick of hearing everything I love about Vegas being put down. No, I wasn't born and raised here, so I appreciate the lights, the sign, the showgirls, the Elvis impersonaors, ect. It's fun. I feel like I live in the most exciting city in the world, but UNLV is trying to suck all the excitment out of it.
